Scallops with Sautéed Potato & Black Pudding.

We went out for dinner last night to a seafood restaurant down by the beach. It was pouring with rain but we ventured out anyway and besides it was my one night without cooking and a little bit of water wasn’t going to put a stop to that.

Before I had even opened my menu, my son was reading aloud what he was going to have. It helped that he was hungry, otherwise he would have sat and let me do the ordering.

We ordered a seafood platter for he and I to share.

For the next 40 minutes I, and other diners, watched as he ploughed his way through prawns, scallops, whelks, clams, raw & steamed mussels, plaice, salmon, lobster and squid. He cracked, slurped & sucked everything on the platter with gusto. Not forgetting, of course, the big bowl of garlic mayo that once everything was gone, was smeared on bread and eaten aswell.

Even the owner of the restaurant came over to say;

“Ooh la la !” (He really did.)

The only reason we didn’t have oysters was because they had had a busy lunchtime service and had run out, otherwise I’m sure he would have chowed down on those too.

A proud moment. 🙂

My made the scollops for lunch. They were delish.
