Lamb Shanks in Red Wine with Carrots, Peas & Mash Potato.

It’s not easy cooking for 5. Catering for everyone’s likes and dislikes can be quite a challenge. Some of the meals my family eat (My wife, Zephy & I) Mum & Dad wouldn’t eat and vice versa.

Here is an example of the tastes I try to provide for.

Dad doesn’t like spinach on it’s own, only in a dish but he loves carrots. Mum doesn’t like carrots but she’s quite partial to a pork chop. My wife was subjected too many pork chop as a child and as a result can’t stand them now but given half a chance would have most things covered in double cream. I rarely add cream to fruit or dessert and instead only use it for cooking. I, on the other hand, could eat scrambled eggs with every meal whereas my son, Zephyrus wouldn’t touch it with a barge pole but give him a plate of spinach with pine nuts, raisins & cream and he’ll lick the plate clean.

Different strokes for different folks I guess.

But one thing we all like is lamb, carrots, peas & mash.

Well, kind of…

…Dad doesn’t like peas. 😉
