Battered Cod, Pine nuts, Raisins & Honey with Rice & Fine Green Beans.

Monday 20th June 2011

My son, Zephyrus, is still nursing a hacking cough so he’s off school today. What better excuse to use something else from the freezer. 😉

If we go out for lunch at the weekend we will invariably go out for a ‘Menu’. A ‘menu’ is a 3 course meal with a fixed price. The price & quality vary from bar & restaurant. But if you choose well you’ll get a starter, a main & a dessert, plus wine & bread, for between 11€ to 15€. This great big meal at lunchtime will mean that my wife & I will only need something light in the evening. Some places do kids portions but more often than not Zephy gets given an adult portion. I try to help him out as much as my waistline can bare and what we don’t eat I’ll get them to wrap up to take away. He’ll either finish it off for dinner or I’ll freeze it for a day like today.

He was given 2 piece of fish this size and although he has a healthy appetite we couldn’t quite manage both bits so we brought it home in a doggy bag. Not literally, that’s what we call the left-overs we take home from a meal out.

He must have been hungry because he managed to wolf the whole lot down in minutes. ‘Feed a cold , starve a fever’ is what my Nan said.

Glad to hear his appetite is good so he will get better fast with the fortification of your good food.

Your presentation (or, ‘re-presentation’?) is beautiful. Your child eats very well; I’m slightly jealous. 🙂

    Happy Birthday! Love you x
