Fresh Fig, Curd Cheese, Honey & Walnuts.

As I’ve been wading through my freezer for the past few weeks, I’ve taken full advantage of the extra time and made some desserts. (It counterbalances the guilt of serving up a frozen meal 😉 ) So today will start a week of fruit desserts. Nothing too fancy, just jazzed up enough for it to look different.

Summer school started last week which makes things a little more hectic in the mornings but is means we are all finished by 3.00. All being together for the afternoons is a welcome break from the tag-team parenting that we are used to during the rest of the year. One of the best things is that we get to all sit down and have dinner together.

We always finish a meal with fruit and Zephy might have yoghurt or something similar. We got this invaluable pearl of advice from my friend Gill, when Zephy was a baby.

“…If you only give them fruit for dessert from the beginning they get used to it and love it.” She said.

Pure common sense granted, but if everything was common sense, life would be a lot easier than it is. Sometimes it’s useful to have someone point out the obvious because in our case it has worked a treat, he loves it. 🙂

    Very smart advice indeed. I try to not eat too much junk each day – but I do indulge in dessert at both lunch and dinner. BUT – I do try to keep it organic, and lower in calories (things like a small scoop of all-natural ice cream, or a granola bar…) This dessert looks terrific!
