Jacket Potato with Baked Beans & Cheese.

Sunday 25th September 2011

“Beans, beans, they’re good for your heart,
The more you eat, the more you fart,
The more you fart, the better you feel,
So eat your beans with every meal.” I said as I put Zephy’s plate down in front of him.

We don’t have beans often enough for my liking. It is the only chance I get to recite this rhyme. And I OH so very much like saying it.

Well, I’m being childish really. I was never allowed to say the word ‘fart’ as a kid so I’ve made a point of using it at every opportunity in my adult life. My mouth turns up on both sides every time I say it. 🙂

I sat down feeling very pleased with my juvenile behaviour & slowly looked up to catch Zephy’s gaze.

“You,” He began. “are…”

“…a freak.”

“Takes one to know one.” I said.

I really should think about growing up one of these days. 😉

  1. Hahahaha! Sub my kids’ names for yours and I could have written this…I’m a little embarrassed to admit.

    Nah, growing up is overrated.

I learned the rhyme a bit differently, though – but your way makes more sense than what I heard as a kid. (The rhyme from my childhood went like this:
    “Beans, beans, the amazing fruit.
The more you eat, the more you toot.
The more you toot, the better you feel.
So let’s have beans at every meal!”

As a kid, I wasn’t allowed to say “fart”,”poop”, or “pee” – we could only “go to the bathroom”.

Funny the limits that are placed on kids when it comes to language…
